In collaboration with Red Room Poetry, we transformed Australian comedian and actress Nina Oyama’s 2022 poem Makes You Stronger into a 2D animated short film.

We sought to capture the humour and irony imbued in Oyama’s tone as faithfully as the darker and more complex themes of introspection, self-destruction, and resilience that underscore the heart of the piece. The work blends 2D animation with digital painting and collage into an eccentric yet familiar caricature of the fictionalised Nina’s life.
